The Saint Michael Archangel Chaplet is based on the appearance of Saint Michael Archangel to Antonia d'Astonaco in Portugal, where he requested that 9 salutations be composed in his honor, corresponding to the 9 Choirs of the Angels, each consisting on the recitation of an Our Father Prayer and three Hail Marys.
